Most people recover but pancreatitis can be very serious and after going home from hospital people may continue to face problems such as pain, tiredness, or difficulties with eating and drinking. \n\nAt the moment, there is no clear guidance on what follow-up care works best, or how and when people should be seen after leaving hospital. \n\nThe PANORAMA study wants to learn from people’s experiences after leaving hospital, to help us understand what the NHS can do to support people better. \n\nYou can take part if you have had pancreatitis, or cared for someone with it within the last six months. \n\nIf you are interested you will be asked to complete a short online form. We will collect your name, contact details and some basic information about you. If you are eligible for this study, a researcher will get in touch… to answer any questions and arrange a convenient time for an interview. \n\nIf you agree to take part, you will be asked to give written consent before the interview. Taking part involves a one-hour interview by video call or telephone. \n\nWe will ask about your care after leaving hospital the support you received and what could be improved. \n\nIf there are any questions you do not want to answer you can pause, skip, or stop at any time. With your permission the interview will be audio recorded and typed up so that we have an accurate record of what you say, and we can give you our full attention. \n\nAll data will be stored safely and securely. \n\nYour name will not be included in any results. \n\nTaking part is voluntary and you can leave the study at any time without giving a reason. Acute pancreatitis are commonly due to gallstones and excess alcohol consumption. Most patients stay in hospital for up to a few weeks and then get discharged back home. However, about 8% of patients end up returning to the hospital within 30 days of their discharge, of whom one-in-three do not require hospital care. After being discharged, some patients continue to have health issues because their pancreas struggles to digest food or manage blood sugar. Moreover, half of those affected by acute pancreatitis are at risk of developing mental health issues such as anxiety or depression. Unfortunately, there is no standard follow up for this condition and its short & long term outcomes in UK. This may increase the cost of healthcare by missing opportunities for early detection and treatment of problems.",{"url":185,"alt":145,"width":140,"height":186},"panorama-content-image 6@2x.png",377,[],[],{"type":178,"sectionSettings":190,"settings":192,"text":193,"title":194,"image":195,"links":198},{"textAlign":150,"sectionLabel":191},"Participant Information",{"imgWidth":143,"imgPosition":144,"textPosition":150},"If you are considering taking part in the PANORAMA study, please follow the relevant link below to open the PANORAMA Participant Information Tool (opens in a new tab).
